Jamar Hand Dynamometer Sets - Hydraulic or Digital
You can choose from two different 3-piece hand dynamometer sets from Jamar. Each set comes standard with a pinch gauge and finger goniometer, but your practice can choose from a digital or hydraulic dynamometer, depending on your practice’s needs.
The Difference Between Hydraulic & Digital Handheld Dynamometers
Both hydraulic and digital dynamometers are used for manual muscle testing. While hydraulic and digital dynamometers are effective MMT devices, they do offer different benefits. The Jamar Hydraulic HHD is the analog “classic” version which Jamar became known for and is great to use anywhere at any time because no batteries are required. The digital version, Jamar Plus Digital Dynamometer uses new technology and while is not considered a replacement for hydraulic, it’s considered a great alternative for clinics who want easy to calculate and read results.

FAQs
Q: Can I just buy a hydraulic hand dynamometer for hand evaluations instead?
A: Yes, a hydraulic hand dynamometer can be used for hand evaluations, but for a comprehensive exam, you’ll need a kit. A hand evaluation kit will help measure:
1.Tactile & Sensory Function
2.Strength
3.Range of Motion
4.Swelling & Edema
5.Nerve Impairment
Q: Can the reliability of the Jamar hand evaluation kits be verified
A: Yes! Several products, including the Jamar grip tester has been utilized effectively in scientific studies. Keep in mind, reliability of results will also depend on following the instructions from the user manual.
Q: When performing a grip test will it vary for adults versus for a child?
A: The protocol for grip testing adults is the same as a child, but it’s important to follow testing protocols and following the included instructions in the Jamar user manual.
