General Guidelines for Fitting a Wheelchair to an Individual
- Seat Depth: with the individual in the sitting position, measure from the back of the hip to the back of the knee and subtract one inch.
- Seat Width: with the individual in the sitting position, measure the distance in a straight line from one hip to the other and add two inches.
- Seat Back Height: with the individual in the sitting position, measure the distance from the person’s collarbone to the seat.
- Arm Height: a distance from the seat to the person’s elbow bent at 90 degrees.
- Footrest Length: a distance from the back of the person’s knee to the heel of their foot.
